Then we looked at the front cover and discussed the appearance and personalities of the two main characters using a role on the wall activity. In maths, we continue to look at 2-D and 3-D shapes. We focused on sorting shapes according to how many sides they have, as well as creating patterns using shapes. In design and technology, we discussed what materials we would use to create our own ball and cup toy. We looked at the word ‘appealing’ and drew an appealing design of how our cup and ball is going to look. Year 1 have been hard at work preparing for the Nativity concert next week! |

They were able to explore and play with many different toys, which was a highlight! In writing, the little mouse left us another letter saying she had been in our classroom looking at our fantastic writing. We decided we must write a letter back which we have been hard at work planning out. There's just so many questions we want to ask her. In Maths, we have started investing 2D and 3D shapes. We built towers to see which 3D shapes are able to stack, and we challenged ourselves to see how many 2D shapes we could build using sticks. In science, we focused on describing the weather for autumn and winter in the UK. It was wonderful when it actually snowed! What a great week of learning Year 1s! |

We are excited to plan, design and create this toy by the end of autumn 2. This week we decided who we would like to make this toy for and why. For History we got to see some toys from the past, including a toy that is almost 100 years old. We look forward to our Chertsey Museum workshop next week to learn more about this topic! |
